Maintenance & Process Automation Manager

Job Summary:  The Maintenance & Process Automation Manager is a hands-on position and will lead by example, actively participating in maintenance tasks and automation projects. The hands-on approach will be instrumental in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of Inpro’s manufacturing processes.

 Primary Duties:

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of maintenance and process automation.
  • Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
  • Assesses building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules.
  • Develops maintenance procedures and schedules.
  • Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repair projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision: Lead and oversee a team of maintenance technicians and automation specialists, providing hands-on guidance, training, and support to ensure seamless operations.
    • Hires and trains department staff.
    • Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of department staff.
    • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
    • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy. 
  1. Maintenance Planning: Develop and execute maintenance schedules, predictive and preventive maintenance programs, and repair strategies while actively participating in maintenance activities as needed.
  2. Process Automation: Collaborate with the plant management and process automation team to implement and optimize automation systems, actively participating in the setup and troubleshooting of automation equipment.
  3. Troubleshooting: Quickly diagnose and resolve equipment and automation system issues, actively engaging in problem-solving to minimize production disruptions.
  4. Safety: Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, actively promoting a secure work environment for the team through your hands-on involvement.
  5. Budget Management: Manage the maintenance budget effectively, controlling costs while ensuring equipment reliability and actively seeking cost-effective solutions.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
  • Ability to plan maintenance schedules for building systems.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance.

  • Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven hands-on experience in maintenance and process automation within a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills and a willingness to actively participate in maintenance tasks.
  • Proficiency in automation systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, actively engaging in technical challenges.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and hands-on commitment to safety best practices.
